Run For Hope

On 17 November 2024, our staff members came together for a meaningful cause by participating in the Run For Hope event! An initiative by the Health Promoting Hospital Committee, the event offered staff, their family and friends the opportunity to join at a subsidised rate, making it accessible for everyone.

A total of 131 staff registered for this event, which featured two race categories - 5 km and 10 km - catering to both casual runners and those seeking a more challenging experience.

Adding a special touch to the event, A/Prof Dan Yock Young, CEO of NTFGH & JCH showed his support by joining the 10km race. His participation exemplified leadership and solidarity, inspiring and motivating our staff with his presence and commitment to health and wellness.

"My colleague, Khaecelyn, and I decided to participate in Run For Hope to support cancer patients. We were tired from our shift work, but that didn’t stop us from running - not only to get fit but also to support a good cause! As they say, 'In unity, there is strength.' I could feel the hope being extended to cancer patients through this event. It was heartening to see everyone come together for the same cause."

- Anamie Delgado Ong, Senior Staff Nurse, Ambulatory Unit (5km participant)

"I used to be an avid long-distance runner, and this event presented an opportunity to reconnect with that part of myself. My goal is to make running a regular habit to improve my health - not just for myself but also for the sake of my children.

I was able to bring my sister, who has been my long-time running buddy, and my husband. Most importantly, I ran to show solidarity with those facing the challenge of cancer. It was a way to demonstrate support and raise awareness for this important cause ❤️

Crossing the finish line brought a profound sense of accomplishment. I felt an overwhelming pride for every participant who pushed through the heat to complete what they had set out to achieve. It was a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and our shared commitment to supporting those affected by cancer."

- Nadiah Aswen, Assistant Manager, Health Services Research & Analytics (10km participant)

The event was not only about the physical activity; it was about coming together for a worthy cause, fostering a sense of unity among colleagues, friends, and families. It was a day filled with energy, inspiration, and collective commitment to making a positive impact.
