JHC LIVE Brings Staff Together for an Inspiring Start to 2025
JHC LIVE kicked off 2025 with a special townhall on 12 February, marking both the first session of the year and the end of Lunar New Year celebrations. The event saw active staff engagement, leadership updates, and key organisational developments.
CEO A/Prof Dan Yock Young opened the session with a moment of silence for Dr Shekhar Dhanvijay and Ms Woo Li Ling. Their dedication and contributions to patient care were fondly remembered as those in the auditorium stood together to honour their legacy.

He then introduced Ms Ng Bee Ling, JHC’s new Chief Operating Officer, who brings fresh perspectives on operational excellence and patient care.
Looking ahead, CEO outlined JHC’s strategic priorities for 2025: Safer, Kinder, Smarter, and Nimbler. He emphasised the goal of turning good into great by driving improvements across patient care, staff well-being, sustainability, and future readiness.

He encouraged staff to share their aspirations for JHC, with responses like “synergy” and “being great.”

A key highlight was the announcement of the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) in Ward B2S—a 34-bed facility designed to alleviate bed crunch and hospital throughput. By focusing on goal-directed care, the AMU aims to streamline the emergency department patient load, and deliver more effective, cost-efficient treatment.
The launch of the Patient Experience and Culture Office (PECO), led by Dr Darryl Tan, was also introduced to enhance patient and workplace experiences. Effective 1 January 2025, PECO will collaborate with patients and families, engage clinicians to foster a positive workplace culture, and leverage data intelligence for continuous improvement.
Another key update was the rebranding of “Clinic A63 Dental” to “ Clinic A63 NUCOHS Dental Clinic @ NTFGH”, which will take effect on 7 March 2025, with an official opening on 19 March 2025. This change marks a significant milestone, as the clinic will now serve subsidised patients, improving access to quality dental care.
Next, the innovative, cross-departmental collaboration VitalScout took centre stage as CEO highlighted how its wearable technology enables real-time, automated remote monitoring of patient vital signs—especially for high-risk patients in general wards, while allowing staff to focus on other clinical duties.
Following this, the VitalScout Project team led a special sharing session on their personal takeaways throughout the journey, from conception to actualisation. Senior Staff Nurse Muhammad Hafiz, Senior Assistant Manager Toh Jia Min from the Group Information Technology Office, and Senior Assistant Manager Jazreel Soh from Nursing Administration provided insights into the system’s implementation across 10 wards in NTFGH.

Muhammad Hafiz, Senior Staff Nurse from B10 (Sub) shares his personal experience with a patient's family and the reasons that inspire him and the nursing team.

Toh Jia Min, Senior Assistant Manager from the Group Information Technology Office, shares her insights from collaborating with staff across six different job families and varying levels of seniority.

Growth through overcoming challenges, resilience, a deep sense of accomplishment, and leveraging technology to enhance patient care were the key takeaways shared by Jazreel Soh, Senior Assistant Manager from Nursing Administration.

Celebrating individual achievements, CEO also took the opportunity to congratulate Adj A/Prof Noel Tay, Vice Chairman Medical Board (Clinical Education) and Senior Consultant, Respiratory Medicine, on being NUHS’s first recipient of the Dean’s Award for Education.

Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) Ms Christina Loh and Assistant Director of Human Resources, Goh Wee Kwong addressed important staff concerns, covering career progression, benefits, and well-being.
The interactive Q&A session saw discussions on requests for grandparent leave and parental flexi-benefits, with leaders assuring ongoing review.

The event wrapped up on a high note with a Prosperity Coin Lucky Draw, where staff won limited-edition tea sets, followed by a Lo Hei session.

As a special touch, CEO A/Prof Dan Yock Young shared a meaningful message: "鹍程万里,大展鸿图" (Péng chéng wàn lǐ, dà zhǎn hóng tú), wishing everyone continued growth and achievement. To commemorate the occasion, staff received a pair of calligraphy-inscribed chopsticks bearing the CEO’s well wishes.

With a renewed sense of purpose and camaraderie, JHC LIVE 2025 set the stage for another year of transformation and excellence. Here’s to an inspiring year ahead!
