Beyond The Desk: Finding Joy in Dance, Art, and Wellness
My name is Rashi and I am a medical doctor by training. While I started my career on the frontline of healthcare, I have since transitioned into an administrative role to find a better balance between work and personal life. Though my job keeps me engaged, I firmly believe that life is more than just work—it’s about finding joy in the things that make us feel alive.
(Me at work!)
Dance has always been my passion. Since childhood, I have loved expressing myself through movement and rhythm. Over the years, I have participated in many dance competitions. No matter how busy life gets, I always make time for dance because it brings me immense joy and energy.

Dancing is more than just a hobby—it is my way of staying connected with myself, relieving stress, and embracing happiness. Winning competitions is rewarding, but beyond that, the true victory lies in the confidence and joy that dancing brings to my life.

Beyond dance, I find immense fulfillment in working with children. Over the years, I have conducted small workshops for kids, introducing them to different art and craft techniques. Watching children explore their creativity and express themselves through colors and designs is truly fulfilling. Spending time with them gives me inner peace and reminds me of the pure joy that comes from creating something with your own hands.

Art and craft have always been a part of my life. I love experimenting with different creative forms, from painting to making rangolis, often during festivals. For me, rangoli is more than just decoration; it’s a way to bring positivity, beauty, and creativity into everyday life. Whether it’s through rangoli or other art forms, creating something visually beautiful gives me a deep sense of satisfaction.
There was a time in my life when I struggled with my health. Despite being active, I was overweight and knew I needed to make a change—not just to look better, but to feel healthier and stronger. That realisation was a turning point. I started exercising regularly, making mindful eating choices, and prioritising my well-being. With patience and dedication, I lost 17 to 18 kgs in a span of 1.5 years, Beyond the weight loss, I gained something even more valuable—a sense of self-discipline and a renewed energy for life.

This journey taught me an important lesson: in the midst of work and family responsibilities, we often neglect our well-being. But self-care is not a luxury, it is a necessity. It’s essential to pause and make time for what brings us joy and helps us grow—whether it’s dancing, painting, fitness, or simply unwinding. Our well-being deserves as much attention as our work, and when we take care of ourselves, we become happier, stronger, and more fulfilled individuals.
I truly believe that life is about balance. We must never be too busy to nurture our passions. Whether it’s through dance, art, or fitness, I make sure to create time for the things that make me happy. These moments of self-care and creativity are what truly add years to life—and life to years.
